Indian collection 2013

‘Variety’ is a mantra in India. Everywhere it is possible to find something new, or something strange. The location around you is always changing, you could stay in the same place for hours and have a different show every time. You can have a reflection of this variety also in clothes, and it is interesting for me to create a sort of ‘fashion show’ in this post.
It is always a surprise to see how many dress types, materials, embroideries, patterns, textures, decorations, colors I can see when I go out of our house. Every day here there is a celebration, a festival, a pooja and so you can see at the same time formal and informal clothes, western-style and traditional clothes.

‘Varietà’ è una parola ricorrente in India. Ovunque è possibile trovare qualcosa di nuovo o di strano. Il paesaggio che ci circonda è sempre in cambiamento, si potrebbe stare nello stesso posto per ore ed assistere sempre ad uno spettacolo diverso. Si può avere un riflesso di questa varietà anche nei vestiti, per questo vorrei creare una sorta di ‘sfilata di moda’ in questo post.
E’ sempre una sorpresa per me scoprire quanti tipi di vestiti, materiali, ricami, disegni, trame, decorazioni, colori si possono vedere ogni volta si esce di casa. Tutti i giorni c’è una celebrazione, un festival, un puja e quindi si possono incontrare nello stesso luogo persone vestite sia in modo formale che informale, in stile occidentale o con abiti tradizionali indiani.

Let’s have a look.
The first I want to present is Saree, the most elegant type of women’s clothes. This was a formal occasion, so you can notice how it is rich and dressy.

Diamo un’occhiata.
Il primo abito che voglio presentare è il Sari, il più elegante tra i vestiti da donna. Questa era un’occasione formale, potete infatti notare quanto sia ricco e raffinato.

At the same time, Indian women usually wear very beautiful sarees in everyday life…

Allo stesso tempo, le donne indiane indossano dei bellissimi sari anche nella vita di tutti i giorni…

Well, now we can change and see a couple wearing informal clothes, perfect for a stroll in a park. She has a cotton kurta, salwar pants and dupatta on the shoulders. He is wearing cotton shirt and pants, stripes are a must here.

Ok, voltiamo pagina e osserviamo una coppia indossare vestiti informali, perfettamente adatti ad una passeggiata nel parco. Lei porta un kurta di cotone, salwar ed una dupatta sulle spalle. Lui, una camicia di cotone e pantaloni; come si può vedere le righe qui sono un must.

Sometimes the shirt can be made of silk, it looks to me very elegant also in everyday activities, and once surely I will buy one stitched by a tailor!

Qualche volta la camicia può essere di seta, a me pare sempre un capo molto elegante anche nelle attività di tutti i giorni ed una volta sicuramente me ne farò fare una da un sarto!

A lot of people wear formal clothes to stay in the workplace, and normally they use a western style. Someone explained to me that closed shoes are used only in these occasions.

Un sacco di gente porta vestiti formali quando si reca sul luogo di lavoro, normalmente di gusto occidentale. Qualcuno mi ha detto che le scarpe chiuse si usano solamente in queste occasioni.

With the hat you can inspire more respect, and people can see that you are a policeman!

Con un cappello si può ispirare molto più rispetto e le persone possono riconoscere che sei un poliziotto!

For very busy people and hectic days, we have a lighter version…

Per le persone molto impegnate e nei giorni di attività frenetica, abbiamo anche una versione più leggera…

We have also a winter collection, when the sun disappears or the weather is cloudy.

Presentiamo anche la collezione invernale, quando il sole scompare o il cielo diventa nuvoloso.

Some clothes depend of religious purposes. Black is the main color, and sometimes you can see only the eyes. But Indians are always stylish also in this case, you can notice patterns, embroideries, beads.

Alcuni abiti assecondano necessità religiose. Il nero è il colore dominante e qualche volta si riescono a vedere solamente gli occhi della donna. Ma gli indiani sono sempre stilosi anche in questa occasione, potete infatti notare disegni, ricami, perline.

Do you have to wait for the bus during a sunny day? No problem, you can wear kurta (long shirt) and dhoti (men’s skirt), a typical indian dress. Some friends told me that colors and pattern of dhoti depend on which state of India you come from. I want to see all the types!

Dovete aspettare l’autobus durante una giornata assolata? Nessun problema, potete indossare un kurta (una lunga tunica) ed il dhoti (simile ad una gonna), un abito tradizionale indiano. Alcuni amici mi hanno detto che i colori e i disegni del dhoti dipendono dallo stato dell’India di provenienza. Voglio vedere tutti i tipi!

And now, last but not least, I want to introduce to my audience the best clothes to wear to avoid injuries inside a construction site. I don’t agree so much, but I don’t have an objective point of view.

E ora, ultimo in ordine di apparizione ma non di importanza, voglio presentare al mio pubblico la migliore divisa da indossare per evitare infortuni sul lavoro in un cantiere edile. Io non sono molto d’accordo, ma so di non avere un punto di vista oggettivo.

This is a very light version of what you can see every day on the streets. There are so many types and so many names. You can wear exactly all that you want here, and there are no problems. Sometimes I feel so simply dressed, I have surely to improve. To buy some Indian-style clothes could be a good start!

Questo è un breve sunto di ciò che si può veramente vedere ogni giorno per strada. Ci sono così tanti tipi di vestiti e così tanti nomi. Si può indossare esattamente quello che si vuole e non ci sono problemi. Qualche volta mi vedo vestito così semplice, sicuramente devo migliorare ed adattarmi. Comprare qualche abito in stile locale potrebbe essere sicuramente un buon inizio!
